Special parameters

The per-surface parameters live inside each layer’s category. Special parameters live at the Material Instance level and shape the whole landscape: where the beach starts, where the snow starts, how strong each puddle type is, how the auto-generated gravel blends in.

ParameterEffect
BeachHeightWorld Z above which the beach base layer begins to appear.
SnowHeightWorld Z above which the snow base layer begins to appear.
GrasstoSnowSmoothnessTransition softness between snow and the underlying material.

Per-biome puddle strength and scale. These are the same parameters called out on each biome’s page in the biomes reference, grouped here for cross-biome comparison.

ParameterEffect
GrassMudPuddleStrength of the grass mud puddle.
GrassMudPuddleSizeSize of the grass mud puddle.
TropicalRainforestMudPuddleStrength of the tropical rainforest mud puddle.
TropicalRainforestMudPuddleSizeSize of the tropical rainforest mud puddle.
TundraGravelPuddleStrength of the tundra gravel puddle.
TundraGravelPuddleSizeSize of the tundra gravel puddle.

The gravel angle blend is the noise-driven secondary gravel that appears around cliffs and steep terrain. These parameters tune how that blend reads.

ParameterEffect
GravelAngleBlendNoiseContrastContrast of the auto-generated gravel area’s noise.
GravelAngleBlendNoiseStrengthStrength of the auto-generated gravel area’s noise.
GravelAngleBlendTilingTexture tiling for the auto-generated gravel area.
GravelSmoothTransitionTransition softness between the auto gravel and other materials.
GravelStrengthStrength of the gravel material.
GravelContrastContrast of the gravel material.
GravelPhysStrengthPhysical material strength of the auto-generated gravel area.
